Director of Education (Secondary)
Job overview
The St. Benedict Catholic Academy Trust is seeking an inspirational and dynamic Director of Secondary Education to join our rapidly growing organisation.
The Director of Secondary Education will be an innovative, visionary leader with a passion for research and development. You will implement evidence-based approaches to raise standards and improve the quality of provision for all stakeholders, driving a culture of continuous improvement across both our schools and the Central Team.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Education (DOE) will provide strategic leadership as we continue to establish and expand the Trust. You will ensure clear direction for our schools, families, and parishes while articulating and developing the Trust's core mission, vision and ethos. Working alongside the Director of School Improvement, you will be accountable for the collective performance of the Trust, collaborating closely with Headteachers and Local Governing Bodies.
Our Trustees are looking for a leader who thrives under high levels of accountability and possesses the collaborative spirit needed to nurture our vibrant, distinctive Catholic schools. This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to be a major driving force in shaping the future of our Trust.
If you have the proven ability to lead senior teams in creating a rich educational experience for every young person in our care, we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to arrange an informal, confidential conversation with Jonathan Ronan (St Benedict Catholic Academy Trust CEO) please contact Karen Robertson (k.robertson@sbcat.co.uk), Start date 1st September 2026 or January 2027.
Note for Candidates:
“For appointment as a member of the governing authority of a Catholic school or to key posts within the school, a ‘practising Catholic’ is to be defined as someone who has been sacramentally initiated into the Catholic Church and who adheres to those substantive life choices which do not impair them from receiving the sacraments of the Church and which will not be in any way detrimental or prejudicial to the religious ethos and character of the school. Inspired by the Gospel and sustained by God’s grace, a ‘practising Catholic’ will give sincere external expression to their interior faith through specific religious, moral and ethical behaviour which is in accordance with the teaching of Christ and the Catholic Church” Christ at the Centre - Page 29
