Digital Strategy
At St Benedict Catholic Academy Trust (SBCAT), we believe that technological progress is a fundamental part of God’s plan for creation. Our digital strategy for 2025-26 is not merely about hardware and software; it is a shared commitment to creating a digital environment that meaningfully enhances teaching, supports our dedicated staff, and improves the life chances of every child in our care.
Our approach is guided by the wisdom of Pope Leo XIV, who reminds us that while we must never be hostile toward progress, we must remain committed to equitable access, data protection, and a platform use grounded in human relationships.
Our Core Principles
To ensure technology serves our community effectively, our strategy is built upon three pillars:
- Pedagogy-First: We prioritize learning goals over tools, always asking "What are our learning goals?" before adopting new technology.
- Catholic Ethos: Our digital environment is rooted in faith, fostering equity, human dignity, community, and stewardship.
- A Differentiated Roadmap: We recognize that our schools are at different stages of their digital journey; therefore, our plan is supportive and tailored rather than "one-size-fits-all".
Our Strategic Priorities
- Enhancing Outcomes: Using technology to create richer, personalised learning experiences for every child.
- Promoting Equity: Utilising adaptive and assistive technologies to remove barriers to participation, particularly for students with SEND.
- Supporting Staff Wellbeing: Equipping our team with AI and digital tools to reduce administrative workload and reclaim valuable time.
Through a standardised platform of Google Workspace for teaching and learning, and a network of Digital Champions in every school, we are working together to innovate and lead as a beacon of excellence.
