Role Responsibilities: Science Teacher

  • Deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, and differentiated science curriculum.
  • Monitor and support student progress (as a teacher/form tutor), implementing interventions to ensure all students reach their potential.
  • Facilitate a learning experience that encourages students to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  • Develop creative and inclusive schemes of work for KS3 and KS4.

Teaching Excellence

  1. Deliver high-quality, deep-subject-knowledge lessons that foster critical thinking and creativity.

  2. Maintain a classroom environment that promotes respect and discipline.

  3. Identify and support individual needs, ensuring inclusion for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

  4. Engage in continuous professional development.

Curriculum Design & Development

  1. Plan and deliver lessons aligning with the National Curriculum and the school’s ethos.

  2. Maintain and share detailed schemes of work and resources.

  3. Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches to foster intellectual curiosity.

  4. Act in accordance with Governing Body policies.

Pupil Achievement

  1. Regularly assess, record, and report on pupil progress, implementing support and stretch strategies.

  2. Manage homework and internal testing.

Pastoral Duties, Faith & Formation

  1. Undertake form teacher duties.

  2. Uphold the Catholic tradition and integrate spiritual/moral dimensions into teaching.

  3. Support the school’s liturgical life and help pupils understand how faith and knowledge coexist.

Miscellaneous

  • Comply with Teachers’ Standards (2012).
  • Contribute to a vibrant department (displays, speakers, school trips).
  • Maintain links with external organizations.
  • Play an active role in the wider life of the school (co-curricular activities).
  • Model exemplary professional/moral conduct and build positive community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the SENCo and Head of Department.
