Science Comes Alive at St Augustine’s!

We were delighted to welcome Ms. Thabet and Mr. McClymont, our Lewisham Ogden Trust Partnership and STEM Enthuse Lead to deliver an inspiring CPD session right here at St Augustine Catholic School.

The workshop, entitled ‘Purposeful Practical Activities,’ was designed to get our educators stuck into the "doing" of science. Our teachers spent the session exploring how to bring complex scientific concepts to life using simple, everyday household items.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Our staff are now more ready to lead exciting, practical experiments in the classroom. They are also more equipped to turn kitchen-cupboard items into scientific tools and finding clever ways to link science experiments across the wider curriculum, from Maths to Literacy.

At the heart of this training is our commitment to your children. We are incredibly keen to offer our lovely children even more opportunities for learning through discovery. By empowering our teachers with these "purposeful practicals," we are ensuring that science at our school remains vibrant, engaging, and most importantly - hands-on.

A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Thomas for her hard work in coordinating this session. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Ms Thabet and Mr. McClymont for sharing their expertise and passion with us.
